Baruch Dayan Ha Emet Barbara Lurie Feb 17 2024

Selwyn and Barbara Lurie
We are heartbroken to share the loss of our beloved mother, Barbara, in the early hours of the morning this past Shabbat. Our amazing Pa, who is 101, has lost the love of his life, his soulmate of 76 years.
Ma died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93 at home, hours after a joy-filled family Shabbat dinner. Her year-long struggle with dementia is at an end, and she is now at peace and with her son and our brother Alon.
We will always remember Ma as the incredibly special, gentle, kind, generous, spirited, beautiful and loving woman that she was. She was always with us, for every moment, big and small. Her love for her family, our people and Israel were endless.
The funeral will be held in Ra’anana, Israel on Thursday February 22 at 5 pm, and services will be held at Michael and Vanessa’s home in San Diego at 5:15 pm Sunday February 25 to Tuesday February 27, 2024.
We so deeply miss Ma’s gentle presence and love.

We feel blessed to have had her with us for so long. For us she was simply the best mom, granny and great-granny in the world. We will carry Ma with us every moment for the rest of our lives.

Until now, I have not felt like responding to the large number of emails and other messages of condolence on the passing of my darling Barbara (7/7/1930 – 2/17/2024). We have been together for 76 years so for us this is an end to an era of love and devotion.

Barbara has been a magnificent wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a woman of valor and matriarch of our whole family. Family, friends and community meant everything to Barbara – we share many happy memories of great times together.

She passed peacefully in her sleep early morning on Shabbat. The funeral was in Israel where we first lived after marriage. The attached photo was taken just before she became very ill.

Again, very many thanks.  Love…………  Selwyn
