Our Purpose

Sajac’s Purpose:

  • To welcome and assist South African Jews to integrate into American culture, customs and
    lifestyle.
  • To preserve South African ideals, values, and traditions.
  • To strengthen Jewish culture, identity and create a positive Jewish presence in the
    community.
  • To support Israel, particularly following the events of October 7, 2023, by combating
    antisemitism and partnering with American Jewish institutions.
  • To aid members in financial need through our Gemilut Chesed Fund or by connecting them
    with Jewish agencies and other resources.

Brendan Murphy is Director of Peace by Piece, an organization which works to promote respect and understanding among Jewish, Christian and Muslim high school students.

As Director of "Bearing Witness", Brendan assists Catholic school educators with the training and resources necessary to teach about the Holocaust and antisemitism.

He will be in San Diego for a 2 day lecture series. Day ONE: Sunday Sept 22nd at JCC Jewish Community Center on Executive Drive, La Jolla at 10.00 am PST. Day TWO: Sept 23rd at St Paul's Catherdral adjacent to Balboa Park, San Diego at 6.30 pm PST.
